MBAISE POLICY ROUNDTABLE ASSIGNS EX- MINISTER AND COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION TO JOIN THE UNIVERSITY OF MBAISE PROJECT TEAM INITIATED BY THE MBAISE PEOPLES CONGRESS

Mbaise Imo State, Nigeria, April 11, 2022: The Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR), a non-governmental organization with offices in Owerri Imo State, Nigeria and New York USA, following a request from the Mbaise People’s Congress (MPC)- the initiators of The University of Mbaise project, for an expert representative to join a Planning and Implementation team, that will facilitate the establishment of an Mbaise university, has assigned a two times former minister- for Foreign Affairs and Education and former Commissioner for Education Her Excellency Professor Viola Onwuliri to represent MPR alongside sixteen (16) other highly regarded members of the team selected by MPC.
During the recent inauguration of the University of Mbaise Planning and Implementation Committee the National President of MPC Ochiagha Carl Azudibia, elaborated on the Planning and Implementation committee, and said, “This planning and implementation committee which we are in now is one of the requirements of NUC for the submission of the form and subsequent license by NUC Abuja. Everyone who is a member of this committee has been carefully selected as a worthy son or daughter of Mbaise who possesses the capacity and the integrity to deliver on this mandate.While constituting this committee, MPC looked at past track records, love for father land and ability to deliver, in choosing members of this great committee.”

“I have no doubt that this committee constituting of Captains of Industry, Technocrats and distinguished Academics which includes two former Ministers of Education in Nigeria is well positioned to deliver a World Class University to the good people of Mbaise in record time. This committee is to be Chaired by our distinguished Professor Chinwe Obaji; The Former Minister of Education of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,The Vice Chair Person is Erudite Scholar and Renowned Professor of Mechanical Engineering of the University Of Nigeria Nsukka; Professor Valentine Onyemaechi Ekechukwu, The secretary of this committee is a distinguished Banker and Chartered Accountant; Ochiagha Ano Anyanwu.”

Regarding progress made towards the realization of the University of Mbaise, the MPC President Azudibia, said, “we have acquired through the assistance and provision of the wonderful people of Ife Community and The Anglican Church Ife Diocese a 104 hectares of land in Ife Ezinihitte Mbaise for the purpose of the establishment of the University Of Mbaise. This land has been surveyed and registered with IMO State Government,. It has also been valued for 1.6 billion by Chartered Estate valuers as at 2021. We have also bought Private University Form from National University Commission Abuja. We have also invited NUC approved consultants who have visited the site physically and has produced a master plan for the University, Environmental Impact Assessment, Academic Brief and University Law as required by NUC.”

Commenting on the inclusive mindset of MPC on this project, Professor Onwuliri said, “On behalf of the Mbaise Policy Round Table and our Convener, Professor Eddie Oparaoji, may I thank President Carl and the entire MPC team for a good and visionary job. As partners in the passion to develop Mbaise into a world class Community in a third world country, we will put in our best to ensure the success of this wonderful project.”
