Ndiulokwe Imo family commends MPR for donations of cash, clothing and other items.

Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, March 11, 2021: A high powered delegation of the Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR), a non-governmental organization with offices in Owerri Imo State, Nigeria and New York, USA, made a return visit to the autonomous community of His Royal Highness (HRH) B. O . Ikpegbu, Nachi 1 of Agu na Ebere Autonomous Community, Umunachi Ezegbogu Ezinihitte Local Government Area (LGA).

This was en-route to visit and donate cash, clothing and other items, to the underprivileged Ndiulokwe Imo family in his community, whose deplorable living condition recently went viral on social media. The delegation was led by its Chief Program Director, Dr. Jude Iheoma, and included Her Excellency and former 2-times Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor (Mrs).Viola Onwuliri, the Councilor Representing Amuzi/Ihenweorie Ward at Ahiazu LGA, Hon. Uche Chris Agomuo and the Deputy Program Director for culture, Sir Desmond Obani. The delegation was warmly received by His and Her Royal Highnesses and cabinet members.

After the welcome-ritual of presentation of the kolanuts, Dr. Jude Iheoma thanked HRH Ikpegbu and his cabinet members present. He then introduced his accompanying high powered delegation, especially the 2-times Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Noble Lady, Prof. Viola Adaku Onwuliri.

Dr Iheoma further stated that, “The purpose of this visit is primarily to meet the Imo family, and to continue assessment of their wellbeing and unmet needs, in order to ensure proper channeling of assistance to them. It must also be recalled that during our previous visit, MPR agreed to partner with you to meet those other critical needs of the Imo family, after the Nma Millionaire Heart Foundation must have completed their building project”.

Prof. Viola Onwuliri then thanked the Eze and the cabinet for hosting them and commended HRH for his progressive leadership, before the delegation headed out, joined by a member of cabinet of HRH, to meet the Imo family.

The Imo family welcomed the MPR delegation and the Chief Program Director introduced the members of his delegation and gave a brief history of MPR and thanked Nma Millionaire Heart foundation for the progress thus far made in building the house for them. He informed them that the group was there to assess their unmet needs after the NMA foundation must have finished their project. Mr. Ndiulokwe Imo lauded MPR for their visit and noted that they are the only Mbaise organization that has formally visited them. He also thanked HRH and cabinet for coordinating the MPR visit.

Thereafter, Prof. Viola Onwuliri spoke in appreciation and commendation of the Imo family, the Nma Foundation, the MPR and all who have responded to aid the Imo family. She also said prayers and songs of praise. Prof Onwuliri emphasized that the delegation was there representing “ndi nwe madu” (close relatives) and noted that Mbaise is well represented among them- from the 3 LGAs that make up Mbaise.

They are the MPR Chief Program Director, who is the Traditional Prime Minister of Oboama Autonomous Community in Ezinihitte LGA, Sir Desmond Obani, MPR Deputy Director for Culture from Aboh Mbaise LGA and Professor Onwuliri from Amuzi representing Ahiazu LGA. She then presented Mrs. Imo with gifts of shoes, wrappers, blouses and head ties. She also presented Mrs. Imo’s physically challenged daughter with wrappers as well as gave out rosaries to all present. Dr Iheoma followed with the presentation of an undisclosed cash amount in an envelope to the Imo family on behalf of the MPR. The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Iheoma, Prof. Viola Onwuliri and the entire MPR family for coming to their aid. 

The delegation proceeded to their last stop, to visit the compound of, and acknowledge Mr Emma (Sokoto) Eke, who has been reported as providing shelter for the Imo family since their return from Cameron. Mrs. Imo expressed great appreciation for Emma Sokoto for his generosity to her family for over ten years, and reaffirmed that regardless of some negative media reports, that they continue to have strong relationship with him.

MPR members have reacted positively to the visit. In his comment, Atty Paschal Ukpabi, Executive Secretary and Legal Adviser said, “This is wonderful. Kudos to our own Dr. Iheoma; our own Ada Mbaise, Prof. (Mrs) Viola Onwuliri, and the team for making MPR proud. As a Catholic, I believe that God will do anything for us if we channel our worries through our blessed Mother Mary, so I am happy with the gift of the Rosary.”
