THE INAUGURATION OF MBAISE AGRICULTURE PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE (MAPIC) SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 26.

Mbaise, Imo State Nigeria, March 2022: The Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR), a non-governmental organization with offices in Owerri Imo State, Nigeria and New York USA, has put in high gear preparations for the inauguration of the Mbaise Agriculture Projects Implementation Committee (MAPIC), as mandated by the resolutions from their recently held 2022 Annual Global Summit, themed, “Agriculture- A Strategic Pathways to Youth Empowerment and Mitigation of Insecurity in Rural Communities- A Case Study of the Mbaise Nation.”. A meeting of the MAPIC inauguration coordinating committee was recently convened by the MPR Chief Program Director Dr Jude Iheoma, at the very prestigious Chris VI Hotel at Ahiara, Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria, during which Saturday, March 26 at 10 am was firmed up for presenting and inaugurating the committee.

The meeting was convened as a follow up to MPR Agric summit as well as in preparation for MAPIC inauguration meeting The meeting was also to review and streamline the agenda and framework for the smooth execution of the inauguration program and powerful take off of MAPIC.

The meeting started with an opening prayer by the Mater Farm Director Rev. Fr. Pius Anyanwu. Thereafter Dr. Iheoma, on behalf of MPR Chairman, Prof. Edward Oparaoji thanked members for their continued dedication to serve the Mbaise Nation. The group then deliberated and agreed to, as take off point, recommend an MPR Pilot Agric Demonstration Project encompassing the following 7 components, including

1) Establish MPR Training/Internship Program at Mater Farm; 2) Develop Training Curriculum and determine duration of program; 3) Acquire demonstration Farm 4) Recruit Volunteer Instructors 5) Recruit Youths  and interested persons to be trained; 6) Train 50-100 farmers every six months 7) Trainees to establish Agric concerns and become mentors for others as well. They would also recommend that the Implementation committee narrow down its focus to Animal production and crops farming.

Those who attended the meeting were, the three Mbaise Local Government Area’s Heads of Agriculture Department namely Mr Hilary Okereafor representing Aboh Mbaise, Mr.Patrick Iroh  for Ahiazu Mbaise and Gabriel Unanka representing Ezinihitte Mbaise. Also in attendance were, Hon. Uche Agomuo, Rev. Father Pius Anyanwu of Mater farm, Sir Desmond Obani and Chief Sebastine Ekeanyanwu.

It must be recalled that the former Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, a practicing farmer, and expert in entrepreneurship Professor Joseph Ahaneku, was recently appointed to lead MAPIC. Other members of the committee will soon be announced.
